After replacing the water filter, you must reset the filter indicator so the refrigerator can accurately track filter life and water quality.

After installing a new water filter

When the filter light turns red

If water flow improves after replacement

Locate the “Filter Reset” or “Reset” button on the control panel

Press and hold the button for 3–5 seconds

Release when:

The red light turns green or blue
-
Or the filter icon disappears
-
✅ Reset is complete.
(Common on Samsung French-door models)

Press and hold “Ice Type / Water”

Hold for 3–5 seconds

The filter indicator will reset automatically

Press Menu
-
Navigate to Filter Reset

Select Reset
-
Confirm if prompted
-
🔵 Blue / Green – Filter is good

🟡 Yellow – Filter life is running low
-
🔴 Red – Replace filter immediately
If the Reset Doesn’t Work

Make sure the filter is properly installed

Hold the reset button for up to 10 seconds

Unplug the refrigerator for 1 minute, then try again

Check your model number (inside fridge wall or door)
✔ Replace the filter every 6 months
✔ Run 2–3 gallons of water after installing a new filter
✔ Use genuine Samsung filters for compatibility
